Messorio, first produced in 1994, began as a personal challenge to craft a bold and impactful Merlot, distinct from the soft, predictable styles often associated with the variety. Grown in the renowned Bolgheri region, the aim was to create a wine with a strong personality — a "thoroughbred eager to win the race." The name "Messorio" refers to the wheat harvest, symbolizing an essential part of the agricultural cycle. Rich and concentrated, with dark plum, espresso, and graphite notes, it remains one of Bolgheri's most sought-after single-varietal Merlots.
