Nicolas Catena Zapata Malbec 2016 Imperial 6L

Nicolás Catena Zapata, debuting in 1997, was the first luxury red wine from Argentina to be distributed globally, and remains the estate's flagship cuvée. This Malbec-led expression honors the classic Bordeaux blends of the 18th and 19th centuries, when Malbec stood alongside Cabernet Sauvignon in the great wines of Bordeaux. The grapes are hand-harvested from the estate's highest-altitude Mendoza vineyards, fermented in small oak barrels, concrete, and stainless-steel tanks, then aged for 18 months in French oak. The 2016 vintage shows deep, concentrated dark fruit, violet, and graphite, with a powerful yet polished structure built for long aging. Presented here in a magnificent 6-litre Imperial format, an exceptionally rare and dramatic presentation reserved for the finest vintages and grandest occasions.
